Hi there! My name is Johan Hoogenboezem. I’m a Software Developer by day and this is my website. It details the projects that I tackle (or tackled) in my hobby-time.
For example, The Heidelberg Catechism App, Countary and Spectare Cantus 3
I also have a github site.
There was also Nitingale – sadly, now defunct. (I suppose COVID 19 was to blame) Maybe I’ll tell you about it someday…
My current interests include:
- ANTLR 4.x – I am looking at it in the context of developing a Graph Database from scratch (because – why not? 😉 ) and implementing an OpenCypher dialect as the query language for it. openCypher publishes their grammar as Antlr 4 language files. I am disappointed in the performance of JanusGraph – specifically around populating a Graph given high volumes of data.
- Netty 4.x – the engine inside so many great pieces of software. Again, in the context of building a Graph Database from scratch.
Why do I do this? Because coding is like a drug…and much more fun if you have an actual goal in mind.
I also look into other things – such as using a Raspberry Pi 5 to integrate Home Assistant with my Solar installation and building a rain gauge to integrate with my irrigation computer. So many things and so little time…
